However, unlike the tracking tab, Sightings does not order the Pokemon. The Pokemon on the top left is no longer necessarily the closest to you. This means that tracking will be a bit more time consuming than it previously was.
Instead of knowing that the top three Pokemon are the closest, you'll have to do some sleuthing to find the Pokemon of your dreams. Since the Pokemon will disappear once it's out of your range, you can track a Pokemon.
A Reddit user has shared one of the most foolproof ways to track Pokemon using Sightings here. Essentially, when you see a Pokemon that you want on Sightings, begin walking in a straight line.
If the Pokemon appears within 200 meters, congratulations, you've found it! If the Pokemon disappears, turn back in the direction you came from. Once you've returned to your beginning location, choose left or right. Then walk 200m in that direction.
If you haven't found the Pokemon at the end of whichever direction you've chosen, go back one more time. Most people walk at about 1.5 meters per second, meaning you'll need to walk in each direction for 75 seconds to reach the full 200 meters.
